We gave our summer study weekend this affectionate name on account of all the talk in the group about putting on your singing shoes when you stand up to perform. Being brave, learning to fly, to sing from the heart, give it all you have got.
Put on those singing shoes... or maybe a rather wonderful red hat. That would do, for sure.
This week, Virtually Vocalise singers have been excitedly putting last minute preparations together for a wonderful long weekend - singing - by the sea.
We’ve booked a lovely house on the Dorset coast, with a beautiful sea view, via Airbnb. We’re cooking too. We’ve planned a wonderful wellbeing menu, and the grocery delivery is booked. There will be wine, prosecco, and a good time is to be had by all. VV member, soprano Sue Lewey excitedly updated the group (note the avatar) with her travel preparations ... good to see she has her packing priorities straight!
There will be study too, of course. Songs, songs and more songs.
Here’s the basic premise of the working weekend - and my promise to the mentoring group members when I laid out the details earlier in the year:
This VV weekend membership special - has become annual - Virtually Vocalise event in June is for you to continue to maximise your singing experience while we are all together IN PERSON rather than online, and to further enjoy/enhance the camaraderie of the membership.
My promise to you:
A weekend of solo/duet singing activity, focussing on stepping into those performance shoes, warts and all. A kind of Fess-up LIVE experience!!! Warm-ups and a mix of music genres, encouraging you all to step outside your comfort zone at least once during the weekend and using backing tracks where possible. 1:1 lessons with me will be available too, where time permits. There will be downtime too - time for walks, relaxing, conversation, even listening. Ours to make of as we wish.
This last week or two has been about pulling last details together as we each make travel plans from our various locations, both in the UK and from abroad, getting focussed on our music during a busy week in any manner we can. As a mother of four (they are all grown up now), performance has always required the need for me to multi-task whenever possible when prepping. It has felt good to be getting back into the old routine...
The glamour of it all.
Can YOU imagine enjoying a long singing study weekend like this...? And If our approach to learning within our VV mentoring community (by immersing ourselves in the learning experience with likeminded souls) appeals to you, perhaps think about becoming a member, take action and join us.
Here’s the link for more information. We’d love to have you. We would be very excited, actually.
