All your singing tools in one box.

Simple learning techniques and resources clearly explained. Every voice is unique and my experience as a teacher tells me that people have very different reasons for wanting to find/improve/maintain a viable singing voice. And it’s my job to help you on that journey. To learn well, we must surrender to the vulnerability of it all and forgive vocal imperfections BUT also be inquisitive, and questioning about the WHY.

about me

Singer, recitalist and voice teacher based in the South of England, with more than 35 years of experience in the business. I am passionate about life, music and singing, and guiding the spiritual vocal journey of others.

My focus is to create a flow of learning opportunities, bringing together like-minded singers with similar vocal desires and goals.

Another passion - apart from my lovely children and grandchildren - is gardening. I like rolling up my sleeves, nurturing and perfecting.

I am an introvert; shy until the moment I get up to sing.

 A Quiet Nod of Recognition
The Voice School Blog was named one of Feedspot’s Top 60 Singing Blogs in 2025 — ranked at #29 for its thoughtful approach to the singing journey.

"Yesterday, I really enjoyed bringing my inner singer to my lesson with Gillian. We tried out a few “ new” old ideas, which certainly had an impact on my singing. I am not sure it is “beginning again” but rather, continuous learning, by reviewing and adding to existing knowledge! I love it!"

Sue Lewey
soprano

"Thank you so much for an excellent weekend in such a perfect setting. My love of singing has been an important part of my life for 50 years or so, interfered often by work! I found your encouragement, advice and praise very stimulating and has given me more confidence in solo work and inspired me to widen my repertoire. I never knew that what one hears in one's head is not the same as what the audience hears!"

Bernard Tarleton
bass

""To have resumed singing and connecting with that source of joy, flow and energy is already a massive gift.""

Jenny Napier
mezzo soprano

"This 'Love Your Voice' weekend gave me more insight and practice than any of the week-long summer music schools attended in my younger days."

Sophie Bierens de Haan
mezzo soprano

"I learned as much watching other people sing and receive feedback as I did when working on my own pieces. Listening and observing were an essential part of the learning."

Alison Townsend
soprano

"Her constant support and teaching skills in the development of our own songs and the example she set with her songs made the weekend a thoroughly fascinating and worthwhile experience through which I learned so much."

tenor
